Fundraising 101

  1. Start early: the earlier you start, the more successful you will be. Your fundraising, like your training, will benefit from a focused plan and recognition that how you begin is as important as how you finish.
  2. Identify and target your audience: in identifying your list of potential donors, focus on groups of people before individuals – family and relatives, friends, co-workers, classmates, synagogue groups. Think big!
  3. Personalize your fundraising letters:
    • Know your audience
    • Tailor your letters/emails to reach out to different audiences.
    • Be sure your audience understands the importance of this organization and the significance of the run
    • Provide stories or personal thoughts on why you chose to join Team Lifeline
  4. Make personal fundraising goals:
    • Make a personal timeline to follow so you do not fall behind in your fundraising efforts
    • Follow up with your audience
    • Utilize other means of fundraising such as fundraising parties and events
  5. Be sure to thank all donors for their support and their donation:
    • Keep track of all donors and donation amounts
