In honor of my Dad!

Eli Leibowitz

This year will be my 5th year running for Team Lifeline.

This year will also be the first year that I will be running in memory of someone that I loved very much that I lost to cancer only a few months ago…my Dad.

My father was the epitome of good health – he never smoked and was in the gym 6 days a week. Cancer doesn’t care. Cancer doesn’t care if you are a little kid or an old person, a father or a mother, a son or a daughter, strong or weak…Cancer can strike anyone and you are never prepared when it does. Cancer just sucks!

My Dad passed away on March 6, 2016, just a couple of months after I learned he was sick. He was a vibrant 65 year old father and grandfather. He loved his family and he loved people. We all miss him so much. Dedicating my 5th year of fundraising for such an awesome cause to his memory is a fitting tribute as he was such an amazing person. Please join me in making this tribute to my father meaningful!

Chai Lifeline is an amazing organization that provides support to families with kids who have been diagnosed with Cancer and other lifelong illnesses. Chai Lifeline provides relief through volunteers for parents who have difficultly leaving their child’s bedside, but need some time to recharge to be there for their kid. They provide toys and gifts and more to the kids – their volunteers really care and make the kids laugh and bring happiness to an otherwise difficult situation. Chai Lifeline also provides big brother and sisters and other support to siblings of the sick child.

The crowing glory, however, is CAMP SIMCHA! Camp Simcha is the most unbelievable place – it is a two-week summer camp experience like no other. Kids who may be in active chemo treatment or who may be suffering for other illnesses, can feel like a kid again. They can have the most awesome summer camp experience. Don’t take my word for it, check out videos below for a taste of Camp Simcha!

In honor of my Dad who I miss every day I want to make this my best year yet – I have set a challenging fundraising goal ($36,000) and I have also set a challenging time (1:55) within which to complete the race. Please help me reach my fundraising goal and give generously to my campaign!
