This November, I will be running the New York City Marathon (my first full marathon!!) with Chai Lifeline’s Team Lifeline. This is a wonderful organization that dedicates themselves towards helping very sick children and their families. This marathon will not be an easy feat, but I am excited to run for a cause that is important and meaningful.

A few weeks ago I entered a lottery for the NYC marathon, and ironically, I wasn’t accepted. Clearly, God had a bigger and better plan for me. Running for Chai Lifeline is a real privilege, and I am so fortunate that I can take part in such an amazing cause. I love to run, and I am deeply excited to see all the amazing ways I and you can help make a change for people in need.

For those who don’t know, back in 2011, my family and I went to a Mets vs. Marlins game. At this game, my older brother got hit in the face with a line drive going over 100mph. He was in critical condition and had to spend months going back and forth to the hospital. During this uncertain and painful time for my brother and our family, Chai Lifeline took care of him completely. They catered him meals, brought entertainment and toys, and really restored his joy and happiness.

There is a quote that reads, "The receiver benefits from the action, but the actor benefits more." There is such a deep feeling of fulfillment to lighten up someone's day and bring them happiness. To me, that is the most satisfying feeling. Running for hours every day and training is not easy, but neither is dealing with illness. If the children of Chai Lifeline can fight each day, and push themselves through hospital stays and treatments, I can do this for them. To get there, I need your support.
