As many of my friends know, for years I participated in an annual marathon to help raise money for Chai Lifeline, but due to losing my vision and developing a brain tumor, I ceased running the marathons.
I have since overcome some of my health issues and have decided to try to run the Miami-ING Mini-Marathon on Sunday, February 9, 2020.
to raise money for Chai Lifeline. It is an organization dear to my heart.for the following reason:
On November 10, 2001, my wife and I were told that our son, Jonah, had cancer. (Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma) Fortunately Jonah was cured, and throughout our ordeal, Chai Lifeline stood by our side and helped Jonah and our family tremendously.
As a parent of a child who had cancer and had the assistance of this great and worthy organization, I would never be able to truly repay the kindness and generosity they provided.
Throughout our ordeal, Chai Lifeline provided our children with big brothers and sisters, emotional support, provided us with home cooked meals while Jonah was in the hospital. Chai Lifeline also sent and sending Jonah to Camp Simcha, located in the Catskill Mountains where he always had a blast.
Children with serious illness face a host of challenges on numerous fronts, challenges that immeasurably compound the difficulty of their arduous struggle to combat the disease itself.
Chai Lifeline is a not for profit organization dedicated to helping children suffering from serious illness as well as their family members.
Chai Lifeline addresses the full spectrum of needs, from logistical to social, recreational to psychological. Chai Lifeline reaches out not only to patients, but also to parents, siblings, classmates, school faculty, and the community as well.
Jonah is now healthy an well on his way on the road of life., however, some of these children are not so fortunate and it is up to us to try to shed some light on their days. Please help me raise as much money as possible to help the children of Chai Lifeline and Camp simcha.
Training is not easy, but neither is dealing with illness. If the children of Chai Lifeline can fight each day, if they can push themselves to go through hospital stays and treatments, I can do this for them. But I can't do this without your support. I need your help to raise as much money as possible for these kids. So please, push the donate button and help me put smiles on the faces of sick children. Let's do this together! Let's make dreams come true.
Thank you and always the best - Howard
