On February 9, 2020, Team Peri will be racing in our eleventh Miami Marathon on behalf of Chai Lifeline. We are excited, motivated, determined & committed to raising as much money as we are able to for the children of Chai Lifeline. The organization has been my brother Paul’s, and my sister-in-law Lori’s, lifeline over the past 19 years. Programs such as Camp Simcha Special, Wish at the Wall, insurance advocacy, tutoring, big brothers and big sisters for my nieces & nephew, as well as, meals in the hospitals during their lengthy and never-ending hospital admissions. They provided anything and everything that Peri and her family needed. Chai Lifeline was there for them, and their support was unwavering.
When Peri was born with Muscular Dystrophy and subsequently was ill and hospitalized during her childhood due to many respiratory issues, Paul & Lori could not know what the future would hold. My brother and sister-in-law did not have a clear vision of what the future would bring. Rather, they faced an daunting and uncertain future of where Peri’s condition would take them. They were in foreign territory as parents, and were overwhelmed, hopeless and frightened for the future.
Chai Lifeline steps in during those times when you need comfort, understanding, unconditional love and services for your child and your entire family. They provided help that you did not even know existed, and you did not know you were in need of. Their vision is clear and they lend you their strength until you get your own back.
Peri is currently a student at Adelphi University majoring in Business, and aspires to pursue an MBA as well. She is trached and on a ventilator 24/7, and is mobile via an electric wheelchair. She requires full-time nursing care. Peri does not allow her physical challenges define who she is, but rather enhance her character. The opportunities that she has had in her life have been largely made possible by Chai Lifeline. Today, Peri’s vision for her future is keen, sharp, focused, positive and she is determined to make this world of ours a better place for children like her, one step at a time.
We hope that you join Team Peri in our 2020 Vision of raising as much money for Chai Lifeline as we can. We at Team Peri expect a lot from ourselves, set our goals high and do our best to achieve them. We are full of gratitude, joy and pride that we can accomplish this year after year for our Chai Lifeline family. We thank you for being a part of it all.
With Much Love,
