For those who know me, for the past couple of years, I have spent part of my summers helping out in the candle making workshop at Camp Simcha Special, a summer camp for kids with severe chronic medical conditions. During my time there, I have seen kids who suffer from year-long medical condition have a few weeks of respite from the hospitals and doctor visits that often run their lives. Camp Simcha gives kids who don't often have the opportunity to smile, a few weeks of happiness. After witnessing first hand the amazing work that Camp Simcha does, I decided to run with Team Lifeline in the Miami Half Marathon to support Camp Simcha, and their parent organization, Chai Lifeline.
Chai Lifeline is a wonderful organization that provides year–round emotional, social, and financial support to more than 5,800 children and their families every year. Chai Lifeline´s programs and activities change their lives forever, returning joy and hope and enabling them to live full and happy lives despite the presence of illness. Its most famous program is Camp Simcha and its sister camp, Camp Simcha Special. Every year these two camps offer nearly 500 kids a chance to forget about illness and just be kids again. To get a better idea of what Chai Lifeline does for families, please watch the videos below. I know they will touch your heart the way they touched mine.
Please support my efforts in raising money for Camp Simcha. Please be as generous as you can. Although I committed to raising $4000 for Camp Simcha, I would like to shatter that goal, and would greatly appreciate your help in achieving this.
