Hello, I am Mindy Goldreich, I am an 11 year old girl from Toronto and I am turning 12 this year. This year is my bas mitzvah year, a big milestone in my life. Many of my friends and family who have celebrated their bas mitzvahs before me have done so by throwing big parties. I have decided to participate in the Miami marathon as part of Team Lifeline to celebrate my bas mitzvah. Team Lifeline is a team of over 400 runners who run, or walk, to raise much needed funds for Chai Lifeline. Chai Lifeline is an organization that helps children and teenagers, and their families, who are struggling with cancer and other blood disorders. A highlight of the work Chai lifeline does is Camp Simcha, a summer camp where these kids and teenagers get to "escape" from their illness, from doctors, from appointments, from treatment, and have a great summer experience.
This year will be my father's ninth year running this half marathon and my mother's sixth year. When I was 8 years old I went with my parents to Miami to cheer them on as they ran the half Marathon. I was so inspired by this experience, by what I saw, and decided then that I too want to participate in this event, in helping raise much needed funds for Chai Lifeline.
To be able to join team Lifeline in running this half marathon I need to raise $4,000, yes, that is $4,000. As you can imagine, that is no easy feat for an 11 year old girl. I am hoping I can count on your support to help me raise these funds, but more important, to help me support the children and families of Chai Lifeline, the real recipients of your kindness.
I thank you in advance for your generosity in helping me meet, or better yet, surpass my fundraising goal.
