Eight years ago my family’s lives changed forever. My beautiful sister, Chana Leah, A”H, a newly licensed registered nurse and soon-to-be bride, suffered from a bleeding brain tumor. B’chasdei H-shem, she did recover, and the next eight years were a gift to her, to us and to those who loved her, until she passed away on 18 Mar-Cheshvan.
Over the past few years, I spent part of my summer as a nurse in Camp Simcha special. I loved working in such a fun and happy environment where every kid is able to just be him or herself.
Chana Leah, A”H, was always so proud of me for my work at Camp Simcha, and so in her memory I decided to run for Team Lifeline, which will benefit the numerous children who turn to Chai Lifeline. It would mean a lot to me and my family if I could raise the money l’ilui nishmas Chana Leah bas Yisroel Moshe to qualify for the marathon.
This February, im yirtzeh Hashem, I will be running in the Miami Half-Marathon as part of Team Lifeline to benefit children with cancer, disabilities and other serious medical conditions. Every dollar I raise and every mile I complete will benefit Chai Lifeline, an international children’s health support network that provides critical year-round programs and services to nearly 6,000 families confronting pediatric illness.
While running all those 13.1 miles will be challenging, I am excited to help raise awareness and funds for such an important and worthy cause, especially since I am doing it in memory of my sister.
Every donation is 100% tax deductible. So please join me in supporting this important organization by contributing to my personal runner page and honoring Chana Leah, A”H at the same time.
