Team Peri

Five years. Five Half Marathons. If you asked me 10 years ago, "Would you ever do a half marathon?" I would have said No. But that's before I met Peri.

Peri was my very first patient as I started my career in pediatric physical therapy. I am thankful for a job that I love and feel rewarded, but more importantly has brought me such a great friend. Over the last 5 years Peri has put up with all my wild ideas (some good, some bad) as she gave me advice on relationships, jobs and everything in between. I have been able to watch her grow not only in strength and skill but as an academic scholar, intern and full-fledged adult.

Watching Peri’s determination is infectious, as anyone a part of Team Peri can attest to. Each person on this Team is determined to do their best for Peri and the rest of the children of Chai Lifeline. Seeing over the years the positivity, and the love that Team Lifeline brings to all families is why I have found myself a part of the community. And let’s not forget the energy. Somewhere along the road you start to think, was this a good idea? Why am I running. My knees hurt. I’m tired. Maybe I should call an Uber. Every person along that 13.1-mile track is cheering you on to keep pushing forward to the finish line, making you realize how much you are capable of.

This year I get ready to participate in my fifth Miami half marathon with Team Peri, I am thankful I have met such a fantastic girl and am happy I can be a part of such a fantastic team as we continue to break barriers and change the world one step at a time.
