Shoshana Schvarcz

You may already know that I’m training to run the Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas this November. A year ago, running in this marathon changed my life. Just about four years ago, I lost my father to an endless battle with cancer that stole an angel from this earth. I had the privilege of accompanying him to many doctors appointments and once when the doctor said to him "Jeff, you're not going to cheat G-d on this one", my father would laugh and say "It's not cheating if I'm blessed with another day".

I've made it personal mission to live my life in my father's footsteps. In his life, the glass was never half empty or half full, the glass could always be refilled. It's my goal to run my heart out, and bring some of his positive energy and joy to the children of Chai Lifeline.

Chai Lifeline is a literally that.... a lifeline, providing year round emotional, social, and financial support to over 4500 children and their families that are stricken by disease. As the child of a fallen cancer warrior, I can tell you first hand how important a role Chai Lifeline plays in the lives of these families. Chai Lifeline´s programs and activities change their lives forever, returning joy and hope and enabling them to live full and happy lives despite the presence of illness. Its most famous program is Camp Simcha and its sister camp, Camp Simcha Special. Every year these two camps offer 450 kids a chance to forget about illness and just be kids again. To get a better idea of what Chai Lifeline does for families, please watch the videos below. I know they will touch your heart the way they touched mine.

Training is not easy (let's be real, training is quite the little nightmare), but neither is dealing with illness. If these sweet children can fight each day, if they can push themselves to go through hospital stays and treatments, I can do this for them. But I can't do this without your support. I need your help to raise as much money as possible for these kids. So please, push the donate button and help me put smiles on the faces of sick children. Let's do this together! Let's make dreams come true.

Best - Shoshana
