Some of you may know that I’m training for the TCS New York City Marathon this November. I'm thrilled to be running in support of Chai Lifeline, a wonderful organization dedicated to helping very sick children and their families.

This is technically my second marathon, but it still feels like the first. Last year's NYC Marathon was "virtual" due to the pandemic. The 26.2-mile distance did not change, but the race could be run anywhere, and runners had to run alone -- and masked -- and then submit their GPS-tracked proof of completion.

I turned 50 last year, and I thought that the world's largest marathon seemed like a worthwhile challenge to undertake, especially since it also happened to be the 50th anniversary of the NYC Marathon itself. The cancellation of the "regular" marathon was disappointing, and I wasn't at all sure if I could make it through the 26.2 miles alone. (I'd only run a 5k for the first time in late 2019.) I made it through, thankfully injury-free.

I'm looking forward to a very different experience this year, with the more tangible inspiration of thousands of runners and spectators on the historic NYC Marathon course -- and most importantly, with the opportunity to support a cause that is very important to me. Chai Lifeline provides emotional, social, and financial assistance to more than 5,900 sick children and their families, offering counseling, case management, meals delivered to hospitals and homes, transportation to medical appointments, insurance advocacy, volunteering, and Big Brother and Big Sister programming. They also run innovative medically-supervised summer camp programs that help families navigate the complexities of childhood illness and restore some joy to their lives. To get a better sense of what Chai Lifeline does for families, please watch the videos on my Team Lifeline page. I know they will touch your heart the way they touched mine.

If the children of Chai Lifeline can fight each day, if they can push themselves through hospital stays and treatments, I can do this for them. But I need your support! Please, go to my team lifeline page, click the Donate button, and let's bring smiles to the faces of sick children.

Thank you!

Best,

Daniel
