This January, I am lacing up once again for the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon as part of Team Lifeline. For the fifth year in a row, I am honored to run on behalf of children facing cancer, disabilities, and serious medical challenges. Every mile I cover and every dollar I raise goes directly to Chai Lifeline, an international support network that brings life changing care to nearly six thousand families navigating pediatric illness.

Chai Lifeline is extraordinary in every sense. Their work lifts families during the toughest moments of their lives, and mine was one of them. When I was twelve, I became a big brother again to the strongest little girl I know. She spent years battling serious illness and throughout that long journey Chai Lifeline carried my family with compassion and generosity. They made sure I had moments of joy when life felt overwhelming, whether it was grabbing ice cream with a volunteer, going to Bulls games, celebrating Chanukah and Purim, or enjoying the unforgettable annual day at Six Flags Great America. They arranged nightly homework help from high school students and coordinated meals from caring families, giving my parents the ability to be with my sister in the hospital. They thought of everything. They were always there.

I run for Chai Lifeline because I know firsthand what their support means. There are so many children and siblings who need the same strength and comfort they once gave me. My goal this year is to raise thirty six thousand dollars to help ensure that no family faces pediatric illness alone. I cannot reach that goal without you.
