In May of last year, my first cousin, Sammy Roth a”h, passed away after a brave battle with leukemia at just 16 years old. Sammy was one of the brightest souls, with a gift for making everyone feel seen, loved, and special. She embodied kindness and generosity, always looking for ways to give to others, whether through spending time with her grandparents, being there for her friends, or dedicating herself to weekly chessed. Even throughout her cancer journey, Sammy displayed an extraordinary strength, and faith in Hashem that continues to inspire everyone who knew her.
Losing Sammy left us wondering how we could honor her life and make a meaningful difference in her memory. As me and my family thought of a ways to keep Sammy’s memory alive, I decided that running the Miami marathon would be an incredible way to honor her and give back to an organization that gave Sammy and her family so much love and support throughout her journey. I am so grateful for everything chai lifeline did for Sammy, and I realized it was an opportunity to unite Sammy’s loved ones around something meaningful, While helping other families receive that same love and support.
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned from losing Sammy is that while life ends, love is eternal. Sammy gave so much of herself to the world, and her light continues to inspire kindness, chessed, tefillah, and mitzvot. By running this marathon and raising money for Chai Lifeline, I hope to carry that love forward and continue spreading it.
Sammy’s life reminds us of what truly matters, showing up for others, giving of ourselves, and making people feel loved. While we cannot bring Sammy back, we can continue living by her example and bringing more light into the world in her zechut.
Thank you for supporting this cause and helping honor Sammy’s memory. Every donation helps bring love, support, and light to families who need it most. ❤️
Thank you!
Juliette
