Chai Lifeline Has Always Been Home to Me and my family❤️

Chai Lifeline has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My connection to this incredible organization goes all the way back to when I was a baby. They have been there for me and my family through so many chapters of my life, both the joyful moments and the challenging ones.

Camp Simcha: My Second Home
At just 7 years old, I had the opportunity to attend Camp Simcha for the first time. Little did I know that it would become so much more than a summer camp. It became my second home.
Camp Simcha isn't your typical sleepaway camp. It's a place filled with love, friendship, laughter, Jewish traditions, and unforgettable experiences.
From pottery and candle making to swimming, boating on the lake, and all the activities in between, there was always something special to look forward to.
Some of my favorite memories are the Shabbat celebrations. Friday nights meant going to shul, singing, and davening together. Every meal was filled with dancing, laughter, and incredible energy. We would put on little Shabbat plays, enjoy beautiful Shabbat meals, play bingo and win prizes, and have shiurim in the afternoons.

And then there was one of my favorite parts: toward the end of Shabbat, we would enjoy dairy ice cream, sit outside on the porch of the dining hall, and sing Shabbat songs together. Sometimes we would even make Havdalah outside. Afterwards, we would go back inside, turn on the music, and dance the night away!

These might sound like little moments to someone else, but to me, they were everything. They made Camp Simcha feel like home. It was a place where I felt welcomed, understood, included, and surrounded by people who genuinely cared.

Being There for Me and My Family
But Chai Lifeline's impact on my life goes far beyond Camp Simcha.
During the times I was hospitalized, Chai Lifeline was there for me and my entire family in ways we will never forget.
They arranged kosher meals to be delivered to us, helped care for my siblings so my parents could stay by my side, and even arranged for people to come sit with me and keep me company in the hospital.
This meant my parents could go home, take a shower, get some rest, and take a much-needed break, knowing that I wasn't alone and that someone was there to look after me.

When a child is hospitalized, the entire family goes through a difficult experience. Chai Lifeline understood that and made sure my family felt supported, too.
Those acts of kindness mean more than words can express. My family and I will always be grateful for the love, compassion, and support they gave us.

Now It's My Turn to Give Back
Having grown up with Chai Lifeline, I know firsthand just how much this organization means to children and their families. I have experienced the joy of Camp Simcha, the friendships, the sense of belonging, and the incredible support during some of the most challenging times in my life.

That's why I'm taking on this marathon with a goal of raising $3,600 for an organization that has given so much to me and my family.

I want other children to experience the magic of Camp Simcha, create lifelong memories, feel included and loved, and know that they are never alone. I also want other families to receive the support, comfort, and care that my own family received.

Chai Lifeline has been there for me since I was a baby. Camp Simcha became my second home. They stood beside my family when we needed them most. Now, I want to be there for them.

Every donation, no matter the amount, helps make a difference and allows Chai Lifeline to continue changing lives.

Thank you for being part of my journey and helping me give back to an organization that will forever hold a special place in my heart.
With love and gratitude,
Elana ❤️
