Last summer I had the true zechus to work at camp simcha, and meet some incredible campers. One of these special campers was Michelle. She was a vibrant kid who didn’t let anything get in her way. We made some incredible memories together dancing, talking, and of course making tik-toks. Even after camp we stayed in touch she truly taught me what it meant to live life even when she was going through such a hard time.

Unfortunately, Michelle lost her battle to cancer this summer, but will always be a true warrior in mind with everything she taught me. This January, I will be running in the Miami Marathon/Half-Marathon as part of Team Lifeline, and more importantly Team Michelle(Zecher Nishmas Michal Tal Bat Yisroel )to benefit other kids like Michelle who are battling cancer, disabilities, and other serious medical conditions.

One thing Michelle always did was greet everyone with a smile no matter how she was feeling in that moment. Although I am NOT (really NOT) a runner I plan to cross this finish line with a smile on my face because that’s what Michelle would want.

Every dollar I raise and every mile I run will benefit Chai Lifeline, an international children’s health support network that provides critical year-round programs and services to nearly 6,000 families confronting pediatric illness.

While running all those miles will be challenging, I am excited to help raise awareness and funds for such an important and worthy cause and for such an important person in my life.
