Hi! My name is Esther Mael and this summer I had the privilege of working at camp Simcha as a counselor for Michelle, the cutie you see in the pictures with me. Unfortunately, on August 17th, not long after camp ended, Michelle lost her battle with cancer. Michelle was one of a kind. She is one of the most amazing girls I have ever met. Michelle always had the brightest smile on her face and a laugh that was infectious! I only knew her for about a year but she left such an impact on me that I will carry her with me forever. This summer was Michelle's second time in camp, but her first full session and she absolutely loved it. She was a superstar, she was friends with everyone, they all knew her and always said hello, she loved to dance at the meals, and she was even the star of her own camp Simcha video (which you can watch here) youtu.be/Jg8D8_PlgPI
At the end of the session, Michelle asked to stay for Simcha Special, the other girl's session, because she couldn't bear to leave camp. Michelle, among all the other kids of camp Simcha, wait the whole year for those two amazing weeks which wouldn't be possible without your donations!

This January, I will be running in the Miami Marathon/Half-Marathon as part of Team Lifeline in Michelle's memory. Even though she won't be back at camp next summer, I want to make sure that every kid dealing with cancer, disabilities, and other serious medical conditions gets to have the time of their life. Every dollar I raise and every mile I run will benefit Chai Lifeline, an international children’s health support network that provides critical year-round programs and services to nearly 6,000 families confronting pediatric illness.
