As many of you know, Camp Simcha has a very special place in my heart. I had the zechus of being a counselor there for three amazing years. Camp Simcha is part of Chai Lifeline, an organization that does the unthinkable — they bring light, hope, and joy to seriously ill children and their families.

During the year, these kids are defined by their illness. Doctor appointments, treatments, hospital stays. But for two weeks in Camp Simcha, none of that exists.

In Camp Simcha, they are not "the sick kid." They are just a kid. A kid who gets to laugh until their stomach hurts, dance like nobody's watching and make friends for life.

I saw it with my own eyes. I saw children who spent months isolated in a hospital room come alive on the camp grounds. I saw the shyest child become the star of the talent show. I saw children who were told "you can't" all year long finally get to hear "you CAN!"

That is what Camp Simcha does. And Chai Lifeline doesn't stop there — they support these families 365 days a year with meals, transportation to hospitals, counseling, and so much more.
