I’ve never been a runner.
I’ve never been the athletic one in the group.
But last January, I did something I never thought I could do - I ran the Miami Half Marathon.
Here's the thing I didn't expect. The hardest part of that race wasn't the running. Sure, every part of my body was burning. Sure, I couldn't feel my legs. But every time I thought about quitting, I thought about the kids I was running for; and suddenly my pain didn't feel like a big deal.

So this January, I'll be doing it again.

I’m running for the kid hooked up to chemo, who’s dreaming of running across a playground instead of being wheeled across a hospital floor.
I’m running for the kid with a rare disease who scrolls through pictures of their friends at camp, wishing they could be there too.
I’m running for the families who sit beside hospital beds, crying, davening for a miracle.

Chai Lifeline kids didn't get to choose their race. They didn't get to train for it. They just woke up one day and were handed a diagnosis, a treatment plan, and a fight that they never asked for.
But they show up. Day after day, needle after needle, treatment after treatment, they fight.

I can’t cure cancer.
I can’t take away their pain.
But I can run.
I can work to push my body past its limits, step after step, mile after mile, because these kids face pain and fear every single day - and they don’t get to quit.

I’ll cross that finish line out of breath and exhausted. But these kids? They’re the real champions.
